To my right on the dining table is a pile of books about food, not cookbooks but books on technique, food science, history. I’m getting serious about food, so naturally I’m also subscribing to blogs about food, including Michael Ruhlman‘s. His latest post is about Taste 3, the food world’s answer to TED. The post linked to the work of Chris Jordan, “a photographic artist and social activist who attempts to make invisible phenomena visible”. Rhuhlman points to Jordan’s amazing series Running the Numbers: An American Self-Portrait, which includes works like the one below, Cell Phones, 2007, which shows 426,000 cell phones, equal to the number of cell phones retired in the US every day.
